key assignment PT2: the Guardians of the galaxy

Part 2:Researching into case study 1

The guardians of the galaxy

The producer of the film was Kevin Feige and he works for and is president of Marvel studios. The film was directed by James Gunn who is also a director, actor, musician and cartoonist. The budget for The Guardians of the Galaxy was about $170 million. The film stars a lot of well known actor and actresses such as: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautrista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Housou, John c. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro. A lot of technology went into the making of the film most of was the special effects and computer graphics in some scenes when there’s combat involved and they’re shooting lasers. Marketing tools used to promote and show to the public was the use of free advertisement such as a facebook page, posting the trailer on YouTube and having a promotional trailers at the being of movies or shown in a pervious Marvel based movie (Thor the dark world) also posters in cinemas and public transport i.e. Buses.

Examples of synergy with other products/merchandise would have been shown by Walt Disney giving families an experience of the movie at Disney world and by having a animated series for their younger viewer t enjoy.  The world Premiere of Guards of the Galaxy was held on 21st July 2014 at a Hollywood theatre called Dolby. The film was released in the UK during summer on 31st July 2014 and 1st august in America this became the widest august release breaking the record held by G.I Joe: the rise of the cobra.

The movie has been put in many formats such as 3D the director posted said  "Unlike many directors, I've been actively involved with converting every shot to 3D, making sure it works perfectly for the story and the film, making sure it's spectacular and immersive without being silly, distracting, or overly showy." The movie can also be found in IMAX 3D. The DVD of the film is also in blu ray. The audience for this film is kind of hard to determine because you don’t have a distinct target audience but you say the core audience are the diehard fans of the comics that would want to view it and the  people that are fans of the marvel and Disney franchise and the wider audience is the children and their parents.
